 I can’t believe it has almost been a year since Marissa and Andrew tied the knot! We did their bridals the month prior (in January of last year) to their wedding in the knee-deep snow of Tibble Fork Reservoir, up American Fork Canyon. Marissa did her own hair and makeup AND flowers and was absolutely STUNNING! Marissa is my husband’s cousin and I was so honored when she contacted me about shooting her and Andrew’s formals and wedding day! Marissa and Andrew’s love story is swoon-worthy. They met at a barbeque outside of the BYU football stadium in the fall of 2016. He was parking his motorcycle when he took his helmet off, made eye-contact with her, and shined the brightest smile she had ever seen! She was hooked from there. Of course all the girls were looking so he revved his engine a couple times (show off) but she was attempting to act aloof and play it cool. He didn’t hesitate to walk right up to her, introduce himself, and offer her a ride to Sodalicious for a drink together. How could she say no? Marissa found him to be attractive, smart, and funny; but what truly set him apart was how much love he expressed for his friends and family-particularly his younger brother. “Andrew loves with such intensity and his confidence is enthralling to say the least,” she says.
His passion for life caught Marissa by surprise and his deep “Beaty” laugh swept her off her feet. Every time they would attend a group gathering or event, he would find those who were alone and include them. He would throw rocks at Marissa's window to “make her feel like a princess.” He left her notes as surprises and took her to places she had never been. His small and simple acts of love and kindness took her to a beautiful place she had never been-a true and deep love. It didn’t take long until he had Marissa's heart-not to mention all of her friends’ and family’s as well. Marissa says, "He has the manners of a gentleman and his quiet dignity helps to calm my fears and strengthen my spirit. His love gives me confidence in our ability to work as a team raising a faith-filled family and a Christ-centered home. He has asked me every day since we’ve met, ‘Marissa, what can I do to make your day better?' I’m so grateful for my Beaty Boy and the love he brings to my life."  With a description like that, you can imagine how easy they made my job as their wedding photographer. One of my favorite moments was when Andrew surprised Marissa during their formal session with a wedding band from Provo ring shop Wilson Diamonds.
On the wedding day, (February 2016) they were all smiles, cuddles, and caresses, and the ring ceremony in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, following their sealing in the Salt Lake Temple was beautiful to witness. Marissa’s dad walked her to the front and handed her off to Andrew for a quick ring ceremony, and then spoke some eloquent words after.  Marissa and Andrew, I loved capturing your perfect day. I loved being there as both friend and photographer, and have loved watching the two of you grow closer in your first year of marriage. You are so quick to serve one another, and I love seeing how you both reach out to make those around you feel important and included. I hope your marriage just gets better and better. Your kindness is contagious and I loved being surrounded by it on your wedding day and each time I run into you!
