This was the second time I photographed an extended family at McPolin Barn in Park City, and I loved it. Such a pretty location – it’s versatile with large trees, a little brook, a beautiful bridge, historic white barn, open fields, and plenty of space for big groups.

I took photos of this extended family up at McPolin Barn in Park City, Utah in late August. Some people shy away from extended family shoots – it’s a lot of people to corral, and it’s easy to miss all the little details, but I absolutely love them!
We took the Cartwright’s extended family photos at Wheeler Farm in Murray, Utah in August. The only time the family could all be together for photos was at noon, which, as everyone knows, can be a difficult lighting situation. Luckily, Wheeler Farm has a few spots with large trees, where we were able to find some open shade to create some beautiful, evenly-lit photos that they will treasure forever.
Alex and Sharra were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on May 19, 2018. It was the perfect day for a wedding! Beautiful blue skies and warm weather, but not too warm. By the time I had photographed their engagements at Jordan Pines and their surprise-filled bridals at Thanksgiving Point, I felt like we had all become close friends. Their special day was filled with friends and family who had traveled far to be with them, and their intimate reception in Provo afterwards was the perfect opportunity to watch them interact so sweetly with their loved ones. My favorite part of the day – after them coming out as husband and wife – was the small session we fit in with Sharra and all 3 of her sisters in their wedding gowns! (Read on to see pictures!)
My favorite thing about photographing the Haleck family was how laid-back they were about the entire session and yet how perfectly everything came together, from their outfits to the lighting to the location!
