The lavender fields in Mona, Utah are a gorgeous location, with the beautiful Wasatch range to the east, and Mona lake and golden, rolling hills to the west. This bridal shoot, styled by local photographer Heather Wrigley of Flying Gull Photography, combined the beautiful setting with a stunning bouquet and TWO exquisite lace wedding gowns. The gowns for this shoot were provided by Modest by Mon Cheri (by local designer Barbie Berg). The first half of the shoot, model Hayley wore a lace trumpet wedding gown, with lined and scalloped elbow-length sleeves, a scalloped V-neckline, and dropped waistline. The back covered buttons cascade down to hemline and sweep train. The second half of the shoot, we photographed Hayley in another dress by the same designer - a soft allover embroidered lace sheath with scalloped three-quarter sleeves, bateau neckline, an attached satin belt that ties in the back with a hidden zipper at the natural waistline, and a sweep train. The bridal hair and makeup for this shoot was all about the soft glam. We wanted her to look timeless and for her to feel like herself. For her hair, we kept it mostly all down and soft, with her curls loose and a bit “lived in”. The HMUA added a few braids and pinned them back for a half-up style, which was a simple way to add some interest and texture to her look. For the eye makeup, we chose warm bronzy tones to compliment her golden-brown eye color, and then blended everything to make it soft and smokey. We added false lashes (Ardell’s classic “wispies” lashes) to give her eyes a bit of flirty drama. The HMUA then applied minimal contouring and bronzing and focused more on highlighting (MAC Soft and Gentle) and a soft pink blush tone (MAC Fleur Power) for her skin. We felt that this was a great way to keep her look soft and natural. For her lips, we wanted to use a shade that was close to her natural lip color, but a tad deeper, so we chose a lovely mauve pink (Stila’s liquid liptstick in Patina) which is a color every woman needs! Finally, the bouquet included ranunculus, foxglove, garden roses, dahlias, lisianthus, blueberries, astrantia, and lavender. We gave our wonderful florist the freedom to come up her own color pallet and flower choices. She wanted something that would flow with the lavender fields but that wouldn't be too matchy matchy and blend in with them. Most of the flowers she picked because she loved how lush they are, but others like foxglove she chose to use because it's different than what you usually see and it tied in with the slightly boho feel of the shoot.
