I absolutely loved taking Alexa and Garrett’s bridals and wedding day photos last August. We did the bridals at American Fork amphitheater, and their beautiful ceremony took place at Wasatch Wing & Clay in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Alexa is the youngest of 10 children, and I first met most of her family when I did a huge extended family sheet for them on their dad’s farm with a great big tractor… so I knew her wedding was going to be a blast!
Garrett and Alexa were such troopers to wake up at 6 AM a.m. so that we could take early morning bridals the day before the wedding. And it was worth it! We got the most beautiful golden morning light at the amphitheater, starting with a fun first look, where Garrett was wowed by Alexa’s stunning lace dress. Garrett had flown in the night before at about three in the morning, and he was such a good sport to open his eyes and smile for the camera. We got some beautiful bridal portraits and some great grandma and spend the rest of the time playing, talking, dancing, and creating some beautiful memories for them. I always encourage my brides to do a bridal session, if at all possible, because it lets us get to know each other, warms the couple up to the camera, and gives us time to create prints to display at the reception. The best time for bridals is usually 1 to 2 weeks before the wedding, to allow time for printing. Luckily, I have hookups with some of the best professional print shops in the area and we were able to order one large print and three beautiful canvases for the wedding the next day. The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Wasatch Wing & Clay clubhouse in Eagle Mountain, Utah. The previous year, the original club house burned down, so in the months leading up to the wedding, it was completely rebuilt and freshly landscaped – in fact, the plants were only put in the week before the wedding… by Alexa’s family members. It was a beautiful place to hold the wedding – clean, white walls, tall ceilings, beautiful, rustic chandelier, and large windows to let in lots of light. Alexa’s brother-in-law officiated and told some sweet stories and offered some wonderful advice for the newlyweds. Both the bride and groom had a lot of family there to support them. Following a delicious dinner, we had about an hour to do family photos, and we sure used that hour! We took advantage of the beautiful golden meet fields and mountains in the background to take photos of both sides of the family, lots of photos of friends with the bride and groom, individual family photos, extended family photos, bridal party photos, and even a few more bridals. I always love it when brides and grooms build in extra time for photos – weddings are a great opportunity to get nice pictures of everyone with the happy couple. The reception went into the evening, with a yummy ice cream bar, a super cute Polaroid photo station where guests could write their wishes for the couple, and lots of dancing. Garrett and Alexa, I wish you the very best as you begin this new journey in life together! I loved seeing how much fun you have with each other and getting to know each of you!
