FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is headshot photography?
A headshot is a tightly cropped portrait focusing on a person’s face and shoulders, typically featuring bright, clean lighting. Used primarily for professional branding (LinkedIn, company websites), they are designed to be realistic, clear representations of a person's appearance, often with a simple background. Headshots are most commonly used for LinkedIn, team pages, email signatures, and speaker bios.

Data from LinkedIn shows that profiles with professional photos receive up to 21x more views and 36x more messages than profiles without them. If you are actively posting, networking, commenting, or marketing yourself, your headshot should be updated at least once a year. The more visible you are, the more often your image should evolve with you.
What are team headshots?
Team headshots are group portraits of employees or staff members, typically featuring a cohesive style, lighting, and background for a company's team page, LinkedIn, or marketing materials. They serve as a visual representation of brand identity, enhancing credibility and showcasing company culture while helping clients connect personally with staff.
Will this disrupt our workday?
My streamlined process allows me to work as quickly and efficiently as possible, photographing dozens of people per hour, in a relatively small space. I bring all the equipment, including lighting, backdrops, cameras, and more, so people can return to work quickly, or even continue working around the shoot space. Proofs are delivered quickly, with final edits returned within the week or faster.
How can we work together to make things go as smoothly as possible?
Preparation is the key to success. To help things run smoothly, I'll ask for details like team size, scheduling shooting around the workday, preferred backdrop style, wardrobe preferences, and file delivery needs. Helpful tips:
  • Prepare Your Team: Communicate with your team ahead of time so they know what to expect and are properly prepared with hair, makeup, and clothing on the day of the shoot.
  • Wardrobe Matters: Solid colors stand out and look best. Avoid bold or overly bright colors or patterns. Make sure people are dressed appropriately to align with your business values. Coordination for group shots is a good idea.
  • Prepare Shooting Space: I will try to visit ahead of time to help select the ideal shooting spot on location. At minimum, a 10'x10' space is necessary.
What's the difference between a Headshot & Branding Photos?
A headshot is often the first introduction. Clean, professional, and straightforward, Top half of body. A strong headshot builds trust faster. It signals confidence, credibility, and intention. It helps people remember you, take you seriously, and feel aligned with what you offer. An outdated or overly casual image does the opposite, quietly working against you while you are trying to grow.

A branding shoot takes it a step further. It shows who you are, what you do, and the energy behind your brand. It gives people context. Whether it’s for a website, cover photo, profile image, or marketing materials, branding portraits help your audience connect with you even more. They may show you working, interacting with clients, using tools, or operating within your space. Their purpose is storytelling and marketing. They help ideal clients understand your process, your environment, and your value. These are most effective for social media, service pages, ads, and campaigns. These are often used on websites, about pages, office displays, and media features where personality and authority matter.

Understanding the difference between the two shoot types can help you decide what you need. If you are unsure what you need, I am always happy to help clarify.
What is the process like from start to finish?
1. Consultation - Gather information: Date, location, group size, photo needs (individual headshots, team photos, event photography, brand shoot). Book, sign contract, and 50% retainer due.

2. Planning - Advise on wardrobe and available shooting space.

3. Shoot Day - Arrive on-location early for set up. I bring everything needed (lights, stands, cameras, extension cords, etc.) plus the added bonus of a mini beauty bar (lint roller, comb, brush, spray water bottle, mirror, hairspray, oil blotting papers, baby wipes) so you’ll look your best and feel confident. Step and shoot allows me to photograph dozens of people per hour.

4. Your Shoot - I will direct and coach you to bring out natural expressions make you look your best! YOU select your favorite image with instant proofs for each participant.

5. After Shoot - Remaining balance due. Retouched, high-res digital files delivered with super-fast turnaround so you can put your updated images to work as soon as possible.
