One of my favorite parts of being a family photographer in Utah is capturing the love that spans across generations. This recent extended family photo session in Salt Lake County was such a beautiful reminder of how special it is to bring grandparents, children, and even the newest grandbaby together in one frame. We met in the evening at a local park, just as the golden light was settling over the mountains. Utah’s mountain views never disappoint, but paired with the joy of a family gathered together, they truly make for unforgettable portraits. The grandparents were glowing with pride as they held their first grandchild, and you could see the love and connection in every smile and hug. Extended family photography is such a meaningful investment. Life changes quickly—kids grow, families move, and new babies arrive. Having professional photos taken with grandparents, parents, and little ones all together creates heirlooms that can be passed down for years. During this session, we focused on a mix of group portraits, candid interactions, and of course, plenty of sweet shots with the grandbaby. As a Utah family photographer, I always recommend evening sessions in locations like this park, where the mountain backdrop adds a timeless touch to every image. The soft light at sunset creates a warm glow that makes family portraits feel natural, relaxed, and truly beautiful.
If you’ve been thinking about booking an extended family photo session in Utah, now is the perfect time. Whether in Salt Lake County or throughout Utah County, these sessions are the perfect way to celebrate your family story and preserve it for generations to come.
