A Beautiful Family Session in American Fork Canyon

There’s something magical about family photos in the mountains, and this session in American Fork Canyon was no exception. Surrounded by tall aspens, sweeping mountain views, and soft golden light, this location created the perfect backdrop for capturing authentic moments and connections. This sweet family wanted updated photos that felt natural and timeless, with a mix of both candid interactions and classic portraits. As we walked through the meadow, the kids laughed and held hands, their parents soaking up the joy of simply being together. These are the kinds of memories that deserve to be preserved—genuine, real, and full of emotion.

American Fork Canyon is one of my favorite spots for family photography in Utah County. The variety it offers is unbeatable—towering pines, open meadows, sparkling streams, and the iconic white trunks of the aspen trees. Add in the way the evening light filters through the canyon, and it’s pure magic. For families looking for portraits in Utah or Salt Lake County, this location provides that classic Utah mountain feel while still being easy to access.

One of the things my clients love most about booking a full family session is the time it gives us to slow down. Instead of rushing, we’re able to let the kids explore, pause for snuggles, and capture a greater variety of images. Some of my favorite photos from this session weren’t posed at all—they were the moments in between, when the family was simply enjoying each other. Those authentic emotions are what bring photos to life and make them so meaningful years from now.

As a Utah County family photographer, I focus on creating images that feel both beautiful and true to your family. My editing style highlights the natural tones of the mountains and light, keeping your photos timeless while still feeling vibrant and full of life.
